Doubt and Belief

I completely agree with what Edward Harrison was trying to communicate in his article “The Uncertainty of Knowledge”. He was talking about how knowledge will never be fully grasped even if we think we know everything there is to know. If we knew everything there was to know then knowledge would just wither away and we would have nothing to look forward to and discover. People 100 years ago thought the same thing that most of us are thinking today. However, we look on them and pity them for their lack of knowledge. The funny thing is though that another 100 years from now, people from that era will be pitying us for our lack of knowledge. There is always something to learn and discover. Some people can’t except the fact being. They want to know everything, but in reality, we know nothing compared to what upcoming generations will find. The phrase “The creative mind fashions the world in which we live” couldn’t be more true. If our world wasn’t composed of creative minds, then who would’ve created the light bulb? Or the washing machine? Or discovering a way to travel to the moon? If we didn’t have creative minds then we would have nothing to live for or look forward to.

In the Youtube video ‘Doubt-the climate reality project’  has a main objective of pin pointing the use of deception in our world today. When I watched that video, it made me realize how oblivious most people can actually be about the smallest concepts  swinging around us. So much work goes behind just trying to sell a product that kills loved ones including the loved ones of the people working behind constructing the deception. It amazes me that people would go to such lengths for what, the use of money? Money plays a huge role in this world, but it’s gotten to the point where money is more important than the lives of people in this world. I also took notice of the fact that they had a little reference to global warming in the middle of the video, which did tie into the deception of people believing smoking isn’t bad for you. Their point was by showing that the same thing that is happening for tobacco is what is happening for global warming.

I looked up an advertisement pertaining to the sleeping pill, Lunesta, on youtube. As I watched this video, I noticed that literally 45 seconds of the 1 minute commercial were listings of all the possible side-effects for taking Lunesta. It crazy that this sleeping pill even has 45 seconds worth of just negative effects than positive. In the video, you will see that during the time of this 45 seconds, there is a pretty, glowing green butterfly just flying all through a city in different places. You can tell that this is the part in the ad that is meant to distract you from hearing most of the side-effect listings to Lunesta.

ImageLastly, I found a tweet from twitter relating to the climate change. When I typed in climate I found an account named Climate Reality. It was a very interesting tweet that caught my eye. It is states that the sea is rising every year and that people living near the water are going to have to move and then eventually they’re not going to have anywhere else to go. They are implying that one day the water is going to cover up the the continents.
